Options of Physiotherapy Approaches for Patients with Vertebral Algic Syndrome of Lumbar Spine using ICF Core Set

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author's first name and surname: Anna Chmelařová Bachelor thesis supervizor: MUDr. Petra Sládková, Ph.D. Oponent: Title of bachelor thesis: Options of Physiotherapy Approaches for Patients with Vertebral Algic Syndrome of Lumbar Spine using ICF Core Set Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with options of physiotherapy approaches for patients with vertebral algic syndrome of lumbar spine as well as with the clinical appliacation of the International classification of functioning, disability and health (ICF) using the Brief ICF Core Set for Low Back Pain. This thesis contains of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes variety of causes of vertebral algic syndrome, basic information about epidemiology, etiology and time duration. Options of physiotherapy approaches which were used for patients chosen for this thesis are also described. Furthermore, the thesis uses the characteristic of the ICF and describes the Brief ICF Core Set for Low Back Pain, including the ratings of validity of this Core Set by two chosen studies. The practical part offers an overview of methodology of this thesis, in particular the data collection methods, patient selection, goals and assumptions of this thesis. The first part deals with the anatomical and kinesiological context, vertebral diseases, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the McKenzie method. The special section deals with the research of the effect of this method in the treatment of vertebral disorders. The other goals of this research were to determine the effect of this method to reduce pain and its influence on managing activities of daily living. The researched sample was consisted of patients with back pain, these patients were treated for two months at an outpatient rehabilitation department clinics.

Júlia Demeková Abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with a topic of diagnostic and therapy of a lumbar disc herniation. A brief description of anatomy and biomechanics of lumbar spine and intervertebral disc is provided in the theoretical findings outline. Also differential diagnostic and therapy options of this disease are clarified there. The aim of the thesis is to confirm the effectiveness of conservative treatment in terms of physiotherapy intervention, and to compare the effectiveness of two methods - McKenzie (MDT) and Dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS). Sixteen patients treated by MDT and four others treated by DNS participated in the experimental part of my thesis. I created a questionnaire in order to obtain data from the patients, in which they filled in intensity of pain on the numerical scale of pain (0-10) at that moment. They also completed the Czech version of the Roland-Morris disability questionnaire, which evaluated their degree of disability at the same time.
